Bringing Beyoncé Back

Bringing Beyoncé back from the depths of my closet, circa 2006 or 2007, that is.  And it was the more junior Dereón line from the House of Dereón I'm referring to.  Yes. This dress I claimed from a Dillard's clearance rack is all kinds of crazy patterns and colors that are not in my regular shopping mental state.  But it's very colorful and I like the colors individually, and I bought it on a whim. Since I'm clearing out items from my wardrobe that haven't see the light of day in a bit, I've found this one to be a keeper (unlike this one that is gone, gone, gone, baby).  I have new white sandals and an old cardigan and even my gold horn necklace.  It all says summer, though a bit fancier than usual for me.

Smokey Black LOFT Blouse

Smokey Black LOFT Blouse on today- or is it navy-ish?  I know it's not the blackest black, but it goes well with black/white/black in my ensemble.  Sometimes I look at the sleeves and think navy. Hrm.  The sun is shining today and luckily this blouse is breezy so even though it's dark in the summer I shouldn't get too sweaty.  My black gladiators with gold studs and my other usual gold accessorizing favorites are on today.  Plus, I wore a headband because: bad hair day.  And bad hair days when it's this short are a conundrum for me.  Also, bad hair day= Starbucks pastry. Always.

Chambray Dress and Dusty Pink Cardi

Yup, this all thin cotton chambray dress is lately my favorite and go-to for Midwest hot/humid/sticky weather where the air is heavy one minute and raining buckets the next; the norm, if you will.   Which all of these things make it hard to wear sleeves when you have sleeves because much hot.  A very light colored knit like this dusty pink cardi over a chambray dress is my summer uniform along with the gold accessories.  The geometric ring isn't a pinky ring, but the sizing is off (from Forever21) so I keep alternating it between there and my ring finger. 

Sailboats and Gold

Sailboats and gold details are lately some of my favorite things.  This super comfy cotton summer dress with black gladiators and a red cardi (during the day) went well for this #ootd.  I didn't even notice until this week that the studs on my sandals are actually gold, so it pairs well with my gold accessories.  I am not one for wearing the same necklace every day- but the Kate Spade Saturday mirror necklace is my  go-to almost every day lately.  Even on the weekends!

Ropes and Navy

Ropes and navy make up my ensemble today and the heat is blazing and the humidity can only make me complain. About a bad hair day.  Sea salt spray for your hair is a new thing for me, and since I have this shorter 'do I'm still figuring it out.  Essentially, it replaces my regular texturizing spray for the summer and is supposed to be less work so you can practically just let your hair air dry. Still on the fence.  But at least I have a thin cotton-knit dress with a rope pattern, navy blue flats (because it was supposed to rain), and a navy cardigan.  Oh, and don't forget my new favorite studded rings because they make the hot pink look tough.

Gold Accents on Purple Stripes

I have been in love with all the latest stacked and midi rings out there.  The geometric and cheeky designs just keep getting featured all around in my favorite blogs and instagram feeds and I can't get enough!  Since I change out accessories so often, I have a hard time deciding to spend a lot on piece I just won't wear that often.  So, I went to Forever21's site to find this gold geometric ring to go with the other new gold pieces in my life: the Kate Spade Saturday mirror pendant, and my Lulu Frost for PopSugar bracelet.  I have Gold Accents on Purple Stripes for today's OOTD and all cotton for a breezy Friday the 13th!

Simple White Tee for Work

Yup.  I have a Men's small v-neck white tee on and it's super comfy.  And I made a simple white Hanes tee for work actually work for me!  Of course, with an added stripey cardigan, a khaki tulip skirt from Old Navy, some navy blue flats, and some @PopSugarMH jewelry.  The horn necklace is the newest grab but it just happens to match my Lulu Frost for #popsugar bracelet quite nicely.  My tee is all white (for now at least, though I'm sure not for long) and all cotton and perfect for summer. Because, it's summer already, right?

Club Dress, Last Wear

Just for fun sometimes I dig out my favorite pair of heels from Gianni Bini (which I can never get rid of, like, ever) and go through the ol' wardrobe to weed out the dead weight.  I found this club dress in the back and cannot even remember how old it is (years at least), or how many times I wore it (few) so I wonder if it fits.  And it does, but not in the right way so out it goes into my donation bin in the garage.  I somehow thought the big wide belt craze was good for me but I really hate it!  So this club dress is its last wear and there are many more items to weed out.

Linen and a Cut

It's a linen and a cut kind of day, because I feel like I lost ten pounds, of hair weight. It might be a record for the shortest 'do I've ever had, but it's definitely the best layering I've had so shout out to my new stylist Shannon who asked me "Have you always been this tatted out?" #lol But really I'm loving rocking out the shorter cut and am going to figure how to style it well, and move along with my next ink design.  The LOFT pocketed skirt was actually ironed but it's going to live a wrinkled life, and my new heart tank is super cozy for breezy summer/spring days.  At work I paired them with a white cardi, but I was lucky enough to get to run errands for half the day first. I finally snagged one of the Lulu Frost for PopSugar bracelets and it may be my new favorite accessory.

H&M Tropical

Bright, shiny, and all with an H&M tropical print summer dress here.  It's light and all cotton with a thin navy cotton cardigan (which I totally WISH I had nabbed more of; in every color) and some strappy metallic gladiators.  I have an old costume jewelry necklace on with a silver cuff and silver and jade ring.  This is all telling me I need to invest in some white sandals a.s.a.p.!  All this is perfect for me on the most humid day of the year so far, I think.

Ronson Maxi

Wet hair, don't care.  I love this past season's Ronson Maxi dress because the print and colors are happy and say all kinds of breezy things about spring.  Or wait, I mean summer.  I wish I had some gold bangles because I feel like all maxi dresses needs bangles!  I paired it with some teal sandals, silver bangles, and a bright blue cotton cardigan.  I let my hair air dry today and am counting down the days until I get a cut.  I feel like a maxi can go well with a styled-bun if my hair gets too short at least.
