Under Skies

There was sun. There wasn't sun. There was rain. And then there was a gray overcast that provided horrible unnatural lighting for grainy pics.  BUT, I am sporting the Under Skies Spring Midday dress from Goldentote and the fit is great, as is the vintage-y and simple lines.  Except, it is about 5 inches too short for me.  I'm not that tall, so either it's supposed to be that short, or made for very 6 o'clock shapes.  So, luckily I found some random teal color leggings that completely match my teal necklace from India at Walmart and it's a  win.  All cotton, all simple, and paired with my leopard print flats.  It's a straight hair, don't care and no fuss gray Monday.

Classic Friday (Spring Break for Me)

Lots of things like the above today and hopefully tomorrow.  I left it up to the old classics since my Clinique blush and Chap Stick haven't gotten a lot of love lately; since my Birchbox obsession aka collection.  Coffee is there undoubtedly, matched with shopping instead of any cleaning or honey-do tasks I "should" be doing at home.  It's a Spring Break for Me, even if it's just one day.  So hopefully, I'll be lounging like the cat here after some retail therapy.  Spring sales, hello there, and #tgif!

Casual Almost-Friday

I'm not at the office today, and I'm actually doing some heavy lifting and laborious type of things instead.  Since that still means going out of the house, I still deferred to my quick morning arsenal of products to make me look just a tad less sleepier than normal.  My favorite is the Wei lipgloss right after the How 'Bout Them Apples cheek stain and Benefit's Pore No More; they are all genius mini-things that are up to the task.  The other items are just some simple sights from today. I should have more later; my icloud isn't syncing and it might have to do with me avoiding the latest ios update...

Silver Knot Over Layers

I apologize for the super blown-out pics today- the sun is not a cooperative fellow and that doesn't even touch the surface of how freaking cold it is out there right now!  I am wearing a favorite dress (with pockets!) from Next UK, and instead of layering something under like usual, I layered a Moda sweater Over. I know, genius! Why didn't I think of this before?  Since the sweater is a big on the loose side, I grabbed a skinny belt and created a silver knot over layers.  I have some hefty silver accessories on my wrists (lovely bangles) and my bird ring, but chose a simple little pearly bow necklace so it didn't compete with the silver knot. All with black tights and lady-like brogues.  I don't like the hair clip, but nothing else will hold my thick hair.  Problems, problems.

Bold Mix

Sometimes I don't even mean to, but I'm all #targetstyle today with a bold mix of colors.  Even the black tank I have layered under my Philip Lim 3.0 for Target sweater is a Mossimo one!  I'm just in love my pink houndstooth skirt and figured since it's wool and spring is around the corner (well, it's technically here), it won't get a lot of wear over the next 6 months.  The skirt is just the right cut not being too short and not too curvy.  My assortment of accessories is a bit random- and let's pretend that hairtie is not a fashion statement. I have a lovely chunky stone bracelet, a pink-tinted glass ring, and some silver fringe spikes that just add a little bit of detail. I think I paired this sweater with a statement necklace last time, but it needed less this go around.  Oh yes, and boots; my trusty boots.  I under-dressed for the cold yesterday so I made up for it today even with my wool pea coat.  Spring temps, just hurry!

Lace Corset Appliquéd

I just adore this dress and I have worn it before with different sleeves and different accessories, but it's just one of those modern finds that truly looks vintage.  The lace corset appliquéd for this dress lets the bright (radiant orchid-ish) color pop even more.  You know, I just can't pass up anything that looks great layered with black and more black.  My statement pearled necklace and hinged chain cuff break up having so much black, as does my pink lip shades (my desk collection is slowly growing!) for this Monday.

Striped and Gold

It might be a little ironic that I'm strutting my striped mod dress from GoldenTote with a golden-hued cardi, no?  Also, while I love the thickness of the dress (and it not being see-through between the stripes), it's a polyester blend and it shrunk.  Just enough that I'm totally going to pair it with some black leggings when I get home to see how it looks.  I took a casual dress and added a modest cardi and then threw on my favorite brogues in black.  I have red lips and a few black and silver accessories, so I feel ready for this warm day.  My hair's frizzy, but that's why ponytails are lovely for Fridays.  As you can tell, I love color-coding anything, even a schedule, and forgot to share my Rifle Paper Co. city scene of the month: Tokyo.  Even though March is almost over, it's still got some spunk left.

Spring in Pastels

It's the first, fabulous day of Spring in pastels! The spring equinox is here and I'm still teetering on packing away all my sweaters and heavy-duty wintery things like wool and double-knit honeycomb layers.  I have a mint scoop-neck tee paired with a high waisted gray pencil skirt, and a thin, gauzy cardigan.  No black tights and no black boots! My leopard flats are working great instead; I still wore a light scarf and my vintage granny wool coat.  Layers, people!  I went back to my new bangles today to give some depth to my really-thin cardi and I have an emerald green jeweled necklace and a chunky murano glass ring as accessories that don't match, but I like the mix of hues.  Pale green, pastel pink, deep emerald, bright blue, serious leopard, and muted gray for today.

Printed Full Skirt

My star of the show today is this printed full skirt.  I used to be all about the full skirt which seems to work well for hip-happenin' girls.  Like every other skirt I owned had a full flair and covered my knees.  Very old-school modest I think.  But they didn't a ton for my silhouette which at my age I've just become actually more aware and definitely more accepting of. So, out went all the full skirts. Except this one; this lovely one which is from Target of all places.  I have my hinged chain cuff and gothic black ring and a dangley long necklace for accessories.  And my hair in this dry almost-spring but winterish today instead is just not cooperating. I think it's time for a drastic cut.  Also, on the almost-spring front, my lovely tall and slim 3-sprout office plant had a casualty. See that little stump?  Now it's down to a 2-sprouter and I'm trying to keep it alive.
